EXERCISE #18: Build & Test Your Pre-Race Routine

Mindset Exercise: Build & Test Your Pre-Race Routine

This week, test your pre-race routine before a key workout.

Step 1: Write Down Your Ideal Pre-Race Routine

  1. What will you do the night before to prepare?
  2. What’s your exact race morning sequence? (nutrition, warm-up, etc.)
  3. What mental tools will you use? (visualization, mantra, breathing techniques)
  4. How will you manage nerves and energy?

Step 2: Test Your Routine in a Key Workout

🔹 Pick a hard workout this week and treat it like race day.
🔹 Go through your full pre-race routine (mental prep, warm-up, execution).
🔹 Evaluate afterward:
✅ Did you feel calmer and more focused?
✅ Were you overthinking or locked in?
✅ Did you feel ready to perform instead of just “going through the motions”?

Final Thought: Train Your Race Mindset Like You Train Your Body

A great pre-race routine isn’t about superstition—it’s about reliability. When your process is structured, tested, and repeatable, you take the guesswork out of race day and step to the start line already primed for success.

By Week 18, you don’t need motivation. You need execution.
