Optimizing Race Week

Too often, the fittest and most prepared of athletes are disappointed by lackluster race day results, after months and months of training and sacrifice. Why? Poor race week execution. This presentation will focus on how to conduct your training, fueling, and rest/recovery during race week. What to, and not to, do in the final days leading into a big race. Don't let your next race be a disappointing experience.

What You Will Learn: 
(1) How to structure a training week, with both volume and intensity, that sets you up for an optimal performance. (2) How to execute ideal race week fueling, and incorporate effective fat and carbohydrate loading. (3) Where your mental frame of mind should be, during the week, and how to steer it in the right direction.

About the Presenter: 
Tim Snow is the Training Services Director, and Coach with QT2 Systems, as well as a former PRO/Elite triathlete. Tim has been racing since 1998, across many distances and types of endurance sports. He coaches top-level triathletes, through QT2's 1-1 Coaching service, and manages the day-to-day operations of the training side of the LLC.

One of the most important components in all of endurance sports is pacing! One of QT2's Five Cornerstones, a well-considered plan for pacing a race effort is often overlooked by even the most prepared of athletes. Tools such as power meters, GPS devices, and HR Monitors, though potentially invaluable, are often under-utilized when needed most. In this webinar we will explore the process of developing a pacing plan based upon wattage and pace/speed, and when/why these should be replaced by a plan utilizing heart rate. Join us!

(1) The process used to develop an appropriate pacing plan, based upon real training data. (2) How to utilize technological devices, such as power meters, GPS, and HR monitors in a pacing plan. (3) When and why heart rate should be used as the primary tool for pacing a race effort.

About the Presenter: 
Former Coach, Patrick Wheeler is a USAT Level I and a QT2 Systems Level II triathlon coach, whose primary focus is on coaching 1-1 athletes and running QT2's Group Services. Patrick is also an elite age-grouper and perennial Kona qualifier, having posted several age group wins at both the Ironman and 70.3 distances.

Time Trialing For Triathlon

The bike portion of a triathlon is really nothing more than a bike time trial, much like you see in the Tour de France. Use the same principles that they use, to improve your own racing performances. About the Presenters: 
Reem Jishi is the Content Director, Run Training Specialist, and Coach with QT2 Systems/The Run Formula. Reem has been racing since 2000 as a runner, cyclist and triathlete. She has been coaching since 2010, and works with age group athletes of various levels of experience. 

Jon Falk has run 15 sub three hour marathons, including a personal best of 2:46 at the 2006 Chicago and a 2:49 at the 2006 Boston Marathon. Other times of note are his 7h 40m finish at the 2006 JFK 50 Mile and his 59:47 finish at the 2006 Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run. He has made the podium at three races including a 1st place finish at the 2005 Rock Creek Park Marathon ), a 3rd place finish at the Delaware Marathon, and 1st place finish at the 2018 Bay of Fundy Half Marathon (Lubec, Maine). He has also achieved 7 age groups wins at the marathon distance.
