Description:
This webinar will discuss the new tools that have been recently developed, in order to most accurately assess an athlete's mental fitness. We will discuss how to assess present mental fitness and whether or not mental compensatory measures are being used effectively. Webinar attendees will further appreciate and understand the use of imaging and scripts, in measuring and enhancing mental fitness, in athletes. Lastly, how to interpret and use these tools to inform future training/racing, both physically and mentally, will be considered.
What You Will Learn:
(1) Which tools are presently available to measure current mental fitness, (2) how to use these tools in order to accurately assess current mental fitness, (3) the roles that imaging and scripts play on race day, and in training situations, to create mental fitness, and (4) how all of these tie together to measure and enhance overall mental fitness.
About the Presenter:
Jesse Kropelnicki is an elite/pro level triathlon coach who founded the QT2 Systems brand of endurance preparation businesses, including OutRival Racing, The Core Diet, The Run Formula, and QT2 Systems. He is the triathlon coach for many professional athletes including Linsey Corbin and Pedro Gomes, among others. His interests are in coaching professional triathletes using quantitative training and nutrition protocols. We all know that exercise is important for physical health. But what about exercise and the brain? Exercise not only improves mood, but it has widespread and lasting effects on our brain as well. Coach Lenny will discuss how exercise changes the brain, how this influences different aspects of cognition (such as learning, memory and attention) and what we know about the effects of exercise on common issues such as depression and anxiety.
About the Presenter:
Lenny Ramsey holds a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from Washington University in Saint Louis and just started as a senior research associate at UT Health in Texas. She spent the past few years working as an assistant professor in Neurosciences in the Physical Therapy Department of a small liberal arts college - allowing her to dive into the brain-body connection. Lenny picked up triathlon while pursuing her PhD and started racing as a professional athlete in 2017. Midway through the 2018 season, Lenny turned her attention to the full Ironman distance and last seaon she posted two third place finishes. Lenny combines her enthusiasm for triathlon with teaching as a QT2 triathlon coach. She brings her passion for data driven analysis and psychology to each of her athletes to assist them in their or her journey to achieving their personal best.
